Black History Month

Black history month happens every year and was held on 1st October in 2014. This is used to celebrate both how far the black community have come to remembering times of the past. It brings the community of Southampton together. Amy Holloway from B. Matthews will be performing solo songs and appearing along with many speakers and people with outstanding wisdom who feel passionate about this time of year.
Amy said “It is a huge honour to be performing at the opening ceremony for a second time. This event is used to highlight the black community and how people of different races can now live together as a community. The opening ceremony is by invite only but there events open to the public everywhere in Southampton from artists work being held in the gallery to Reggae and Afro-beat music demonstrations. It is the 10th year which makes this an even bigger honour and achievement”.
