Your best interests are the priority of everyone who works with us
In a modern world of big business and corporate companies it is sometimes difficult to maintain the personal touch and give the service that was once expected from everyone. We try to preserve that standard that was set by our predecessors. To that end, our staff at B Matthews Funeral Directors are all local residents who know the local traditions and are familiar with the Southampton Churches and Clergy. It helps us to help you when you are arranging a funeral service for someone special and who is dear to you.
Meet the Team:
Matthew is the funeral director for all three of B Matthews branches.
He has been the funeral director here since July 2012 and was born and raised in the Woolston area. He enjoys being involved in community activities in the area and has a keen interest in football and snooker.
Carol joined the funeral profession in 2015, having previously worked for nearly 30 years as a nursery nurse, mainly in a local Shirley school. When a much-loved relative passed away, she was very impressed with the funeral arranger and, as she says, ‘the penny dropped’ and she realised she wanted to help other people going through such a challenging period in their lives. She enjoys meeting new people and helping them in their time of need.
She has done 3 tandem parachute jumps, sailed across the Atlantic and lived in Australia and enjoys going to Twickenham to watch England rugby, walking her dog Milo and spending time with friends and family.
Sandra joined Funeral Partners in 2011 working in the firm’s West End branch and now works at B Matthews in Park Gate as a Funeral Arranger. She has found her years in the profession to be interesting and rewarding – meeting and helping families though their most difficult time and loves working as a team.
In her spare time she enjoys renovating houses, D.I.Y, gardening and reading.
Sarah joined the funeral profession in 2011 and now works at B Matthews Park Gate branch. She had previously taken early retirement but realised she enjoyed being out and about and enjoys the interaction with families. She sees her role to make the funeral aspect as straightforward and worry free as possible.
She enjoys walking her dog in her spare time.
